What is Casey Cares Foundation’s mission?

The Casey Cares Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides uplifting programs and activities for critically ill children and their families in eight states and D.C. 

Who does Casey Cares serve?

Children under 18 who are patients at such hospitals as Johns Hopkins, Children’s National, Nationwide Children's, Georgetown University, University of Maryland Hospital for Children, Sinai Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati Children's, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Hershey Medical Center, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, as well as many community hospices. Most of the children we serve are being treated for cancer (such as leukemia), brain tumors, blood disorders (such as Sickle Cell, TTP, Aplastic Anemia, etc.), lymphoma (Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s), sarcoma, and cystic fibrosis.

How is the Casey Cares Foundation funded?

The Casey Cares Foundation is funded through in-kind donations, fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsors and foundation grants. Seeking to keep administrative costs down, Casey Cares does not employ telemarketing companies or solicit door to door. As a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization any contributions or gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law. We provide receipts for all donations.

When did it begin?

Established in 2000, the Casey Cares Foundation was founded by Casey Baynes. It is headquartered in Columbia, Maryland and serves critically ill children and their families in eight states (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida) and Washington, D.C. 

How do children qualify for the programs?

Children from birth to age 18 who are on active treatment and frequently hospitalized for life-threatening illnesses are eligible. Applications are reviewed with the child’s physician. An application for our programs can be found by clicking here.

Are children eligible if they participate in programs with a similar organization?

Yes, during this time of stress in their lives, we believe the more opportunities the better. We encourage children to participate in all programs in which they are eligible.
