Comcast throws mini golf party for families with critically ill children

Posted: Apr 17, 2017

Comcast employees volunteered to spend much of the day giving families with critically ill children a break from doctors' visits and hospital stays by hosting a special mini-golf party on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Monster Mini Golf in Columbia, Maryland.

This is the first time that Comcast has partnered with Casey Cares to host a Caring Connections party for our families. These events are wonderful opportunities for Casey Cares families not only to connect with other families facing similar challenges but also for families with critically ill children to focus on their lives outside of medical treatment. Pizza Hut of Maryland generously provided lunch for all of the families.

Almost all of the Casey Cares families wore pajamas at the party to raise awareness for the Casey Cares 2nd Annual Biggest Pajama Party, which culminates April 18th, which is National Wear Your Pajamas To Work Day.

“These outings help our families put their medical issues aside, even if it is just for an hour or two,” said Casey Baynes, founder and executive director of the Casey Cares Foundation. “Our children need chemo and infusions, but they also need fun childhood memories, and we are delighted that Comcast is supporting our mission.”

Comcast Cares Day brings together its employees, families, friends and community partners around the world to volunteer and make change happen in local communities.  Comcast Cares Day is a celebration of our company’s year-round commitment to service, and has grown to become the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event. In 2016, more than 100,000 volunteers improved more than 900 parks, schools, beaches, senior centers and other vital community sites in 21 countries during the 15th anniversary of Comcast Cares Day. Since 2001, more than 800,000 Comcast NBCUniversal employees, their friends, family members and our community partners have volunteered nearly 5 million service hours at more than 7,700 projects in communities across the United States and around the world.

In addition to hosting this incredible party for Casey Cares, Comcast employees will donate their time and energy to re-painting the Casey Cares headquarters on Saturday, April 22.
