Holiday Fun with Casey Cares!

Posted: Dec 12, 2016

Our Casey Cares families have been participating in all sorts of holiday festivities this season! Our annual Holiday Party at the Maryland Science Center was absolutely fantastic! Our morning began with a wonderful breakfast spread, a visit from Santa, special surprise stuffed animals for our kids, live music and, of course, a chance to explore the Maryland Science Center! The critically ill kids in our programs and their families really enjoyed a chance to connect with one another in a fun, spirited way! Our families also had a chance to tour the museum earlier than the public opening, giving our families some quiet time to explore without the big crowds.

“I look forward to coming to the Maryland Science Center every year as it has become a Casey Cares tradition for our families to celebrate the holidays here,” said Casey Cares founder and executive director Casey Baynes. “For a morning, the critically ill children in our programs can put aside their doctor visits and hospital visits and enjoy being a kid and explore all the great exhibits at the Maryland Science Center.”

The Casey Cares Foundation is grateful for the support of our sponsors for this event: The Maryland Science Center, Phoenix Sales and Marketing, Inc., PetSmart, Tom Reyes and Friends, Spectra by Comcast Spectacor and Gil and Marianne Kuta.

In addition to the holiday party, our families had plenty of opportunities to join in the season's festive events. They have enjoyed the Jingle Bell Hayride at Kinder Farm Park, a private screening of the movie, "Elf," tickets to Babes in Toyland and more! The Ballet Theatre of Maryland invited our families to their dress rehearsal performance of The Nutcracker and our families had a chance to enjoy Nats Winterfest with the Washington Nationals! The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company has invited a couple of our families to their presentation of the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," and have been collecting donations for Casey Cares after every performance.

We are also collecting pajamas in advance of Community Mitzvah Day --- a special day of performing good deeds at the Jewish Community Center in Owings Mills on December 25th. Come join us and help us package new pairs of pajamas for critically ill kids in our programs or donate some PJs at the JCC in Park Heights or Owings Mills!
