Running Wild at the 14th Annual 5K Run/1-Mile Walk

Posted: Aug 8, 2023

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who attended our 14th Annual 5K Run/1-Mile Walk virtually or in-person! We were glad it was a warm, clear morning at the Maryland Zoo and it was wonderful seeing an incredible turnout of more than 500 participants! It was fun seeing familiar faces and lots of new ones as well!

We were happy to have the return of WJZ sportscaster Mark Viviano who emceed the event. A Casey Cares mother, Tracey Kneifl and her daughter Teagan, shared their family's journey within Casey Cares programs. Teagan even read her own speech, thanking Casey Cares for the special visit to Medieval Times in December where she took her last chemo dosage for her leukemia!

The crowd was pumped up during our warm up session thanks to the amazing leaders at Crunch Fitness

Special thanks goes out to our top sponsors and corporate teams: Blue Ocean Investments, Armada Hoffler, Intellibridge, Nathanson Dental, Elks Lodge Ocean City #2645, The Coastal Companies, Womble Bond Dickinson, Kelly Benefits, National Life Group, Tree Trekkers, House Party Rentals, Electric Events DC, THB Bagelry, Triangle Sign Services, Wegmans, Clear Channel Outdoor, Downtown Diane, The Daily Record, Zespri, and WCBM Talk Radio. Amazing partners like our 5K sponsors bring lasting memories to the critically ill children and their families in Casey Cares programs who need a break during countless specialist visits and lengthy medical care!

With critical funds raised through registration fees and participant fundraisers, Casey Cares can fulfill our mission to provide more smiles and fun activities for families this year such as tickets to sporting events, live shows, or a Movie & Pizza Night package. We cannot wait to see you again next year!
