"Mother’s Day is important to me because the role is so diverse and complex. Even if you don’t have children of your own, many women that support other people’s children or those in their family should still be celebrated. Those that may have lost their own, whether while pregnant or after birth, are still considered a mother to me. The role is one of a kind and includes many sacrifices that not everyone can make. My favorite part about being a mother to Sky is watching her grow and catch up with milestones. She received a liver transplant at 8 months and spent 100 days total in the hospital. She was in the PICU for 4 weeks and went to the OR 5 times. She could barely hold her head up after laying in bed and being sedated for so long. To see her crawling, standing, eating and talking makes the tough journey worth it! Thank you so much Casey Cares - she was so happy to see the penguins, they were her favorite. This was one of her very first real outings." - Paris, mother to Casey Cares child Sky.
