Runner Sherry Stick, of Eldersburg, finished in the top ten of the Casey Cares/Orioles Annual 5K Run/Walk last year.
“I'm looking forward to the race in just a few short weeks!” Stick wrote in an email. “Casey Cares is a wonderful organization and they do amazing things for families with critically ill children. It is nice to know that the money raised will be supporting their programs. The race venue is also great. To be able to finish on the warning track of the field is such a unique experience!”
Stick has always been involved in sports and was told by her coaches that she had a lot of speed. When she got to high school, she gave track a try and she’s been running ever since.
Stick said the best parts of running are being able to push yourself to achieve your goals and meeting some amazing people.
“I have met some of my best friends as well as my husband - we met while running track and cross country in college.”
Stick said the one thing she can't run without is chewing gum.
“I’m not sure how much I actually chew it while I'm running, but I don't run or race without it!”
This year’s Casey Cares/Orioles 5K is Saturday, July 14th. You must register by June 30th to receive a race shirt! Register here!
