Crossing the Finish Line at Casey Cares 15th Annual 5K

Posted: Aug 8, 2024

What an incredible day at the Maryland Zoo! A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who joined us, both virtually and in-person, for the 15th Annual Casey Cares 5K Run/1-Mile Walk. With an impressive turnout of 656 participants – over 100 more than last year – it was truly inspiring to see our community come out in support of the critically ill kids in our programs! It was fun seeing familiar faces and lots of new ones too!

We were thrilled to welcome back recently retired WJZ Sports Director (and our board member!) Mark Viviano, who emceed the event. One of the highlights was hearing from the Hicks family, who joined Casey Cares earlier this year. They shared how we have made a positive impact on their son Clyde, diagnosed with two forms of cancer, and their family through tickets to Orioles games, Annapolis Blues Soccer matches, Movie & Pizza Night packages, and more.

This event would not have been possible without our sponsors and corporate teams. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to our mission!
