Thanks to the generosity of the Hippodrome Foundation, eleven Casey Cares critically ill children and their parents attended a special Arts Workshop at the theatre.
Through the day, kids performed slam poetry, learned choreography and vocals from the musical, The Wiz, and played theater games!
The Hippodrome Theatre and Foundation has shared a long partnership with Casey Cares, having donated tickets for children to watch in-person performances, such as Disney’s FROZEN the Musical, to the nonprofit since 2004.
This art workshop is a thoughtful gift from the foundation for Casey Cares families can have a fun and “normal” day with other critically ill children.
Hippodrome Executive Director, Olive Waxter, states, “The Hippodrome Foundation works to share the assets of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center with members of our community. Summer is an opportune time to bring hundreds of young people in for free experiences in the Hippodrome Theatre. We are grateful to Casey Cares for joining us for one of our summer sessions and we thank sponsors like BGE and JP Morgan Chase for making this workshop possible.”
Thank you again to the Hippodrome Foundation for continuing to give once-in-a-lifetime experiences to Casey Cares kids! These seemingly little moments truly make lasting memories for critically ill children who undergo challenging medical treatments and lengthy hospital visits. Casey Cares always appreciates in-kind donations of tickets to theater performances for the kids in our programs! Please email them to our Program Director Summer at Summer@CaseyCaresFoundation.org.
