Golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the links, a terrific lunch provided by KONA Grill and a cocktail awards reception at our Casey Cares 14th Annual Golf Tournament at the Hunt Valley Golf Club in Phoenix, Maryland.
We bestowed our Champion of Children Award on the knights at Medieval Times for their longtime support of our programs. Medieval Times has provided our families with so many magical memories and truly has treated our families like royalty. We could not provide little moments and lasting memories to more than 800 families with critically ill children without great partners like our friends at Medieval Times.
Quick story about how Medieval Times and how much they mean to us... At Casey Cares, we work with families from the moment a child is diagnosed with an illness, throughout that child’s illness and even after the loss of a child. We had a family recently that really wanted to take a trip to Florida. Unfortunately, their daughter, Bryanna, passed away before the family could go. Afterward, Bryanna’s parents contacted us and we were able to send them to Florida. We called our friends at Medieval Times, who have helped us closer to our base in Maryland and New Jersey, and they immediately offered Bryanna’s family a chance to enjoy dinner at Medieval Times in Florida. It is that kind of commitment and partnership that we have built with Rae Ann and her team since 2004 that we can count on.
A huge shout out also goes to our top sponsors: Rethink Water, Berger Cookies, Symphony Placements, SC&H Group, Oxford Risk Management Group, Len J. Miller and Associates, Offit Kurman, Safe Harbor Financial Group, The Sons of The American Legion, Urban N. Zink and Aspire Wealth Planners.
Thanks also to media partners Q1370, WCBM 680, Downtown Diane and CITYpeek. Brent Harris, play-by-play voice of Baltimore Brigade, once again was a terrific emcee. We were so glad to see Brent at our event, as well as his wife, Kristen Berset of WUSA9 in Washington, D.C. She has been bravely battling breast cancer, and we are proud to say she is looking and feeling much better! Brent's daughter, Ellie, who is 14, was helping us as a volunteer!
Many thanks to Casey Cares Board member, Wanda Smith, and her Golf Committee: Steve and Erin Taromino, Al Smith, David LaBriccosia and Eric Bowser. Everyone got involved and brought their enthusiasm to this event.
Our golfers loved their polo shirts, thanks to donations by Under Armour and Mojo Art & Image, and hats from Aspire Wealth. Golfers also enjoyed capping off the day with a special whiskey tasting, courtesy of our friends at Sagamore Spirit.
Thanks everyone at the Hunt Valley Golf Club for making our tournament a success!
