"We had a great time at the Baltimore Zoo. Yanis got to take a close friend and that added joy to his experience. He ran and he looked at the animals in awe and joy. It was nice to get fresh air and be out of doors. We ate lunch at the Zoo, we saw penguins, elephants, giraffes and cheetahs. Thank you for allowing him to still experience these opportunities as it is more difficult in this current COVID environment. Children in general are more limited in experiences and children like Yanis are even more restricted. Thank you very much from our family. We ALL had a wonderful time!"
Donations allow Casey Cares to provide moments of respite for families like Yanis. Eleven-year-old Yanis, whose friends call him Ya-ya, has severe aplastic anemia. The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai referred Ya-ya to our programs four years ago, and we are happy to be able to provide experiences to him and his family while they go through active treatment and frequent hospitalizations. Because of wonderful donors like you, Casey Cares is able to invite a special family to visit the zoo every single day. Thank you for supporting our palliative programs.
