Thanks to the generosity of the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC), Xavier, a one-year-old who is diagnosed with hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy, and his mother Davida and sister Ambermarie attended a performance of A Christmas Carol.
Davida loved being able to spend a fun evening with her children since she often has to bring Xavier to daily appointments for medical care.
CSC is once again collecting donations for us! Though most events are funded through donations, others are gifted to the nonprofit by the group hosting the event. The CSC has shared a partnership with Casey Cares since 2016, having donated tickets for children to watch in-person and virtual performances of holiday shows and collected donations for Casey Cares after each show.
When the COVID-19 pandemic moved theater companies to a virtual format, the CSC continued to raise money for the foundation during their performances over video.
Chesapeake Shakespeare Company communications manager, Jalen Lee, states, “Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is once again honored to welcome the Casey Cares Foundation as a beneficiary for our production of A Christmas Carol this holiday season. Through the spirited giving and generosity of our patrons, we are delighted to support the phenomenal work of this critically important organization.”
Lee continues, “The beauty of theatre lies in its power to bring people together. Many of us gather with friends and family during this time of year to share joyful stories of triumph and gratitude. We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to invite families with critically ill children to our theatre and share Dickens’ classic tale of hope and redemption.”
