As AC/DC once said, “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll!” That song rang true at Casey Cares’ 20th Annual Rock ‘N’ Roll Bash presented by CFG Bank at Rams Head Live! With a timely "Trick or Treat" Halloween theme, the event was a memorable celebration to mark 20 years of supporting Casey Cares programs and activities for critically ill children.
The evening commenced with a powerhouse performance by the All-Star Band, featuring Ricky Byrd, Steve Conte, Liberty DeVitto, Carmine Appice, Ron “Bumblefoot” Tal, Chuck Leavell, Arno Hecht, Kasim Sulton, The Uptown Horns, and Loren Gold who have performed with some of the biggest bands in rock history - The Rolling Stones, Chicago, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Guns ‘n' Roses, Billy Joel, Vanilla Fudge, Eric Clapton, Don Felder, Todd Rundgren, Meatloaf and more!
After songs such as “Hot Legs,” “Route 66,” “Personality Crisis,” and “Statesboro Blues,” Christine “The Beehive Queen” Ohlman from the Saturday Night Live Band brought up all the ladies on stage to sing “Brass in Pocket” by The Pretenders.
Guests embraced the festive spirit by donning creative Halloween costumes. Co-Bash organizer Ellen DiMayo was sparkling as Queen Clarisse and Andrea DiMayo as the Princess Mia from The Princess Diaries made an appearance. Casey Cares Founder, Casey Baynes, came dressed as a carnival clown while other bash-goers dressed up as the Devil, Alice in Wonderland, a farmer, a cowboy, and even Supergirl.
Amelia from 98 Rock was back again as our incredible emcee for the night! She also chose the winners for the costume contest while dressed as a flamingo jockey!
The night reached its pinnacle with a remarkable performance by co-Bash organizer and Chairman of the Board, Mike DiMayo and his band High Voltage, who headlined the show. They electrified the audience with their rendition of classic AC/DC songs, igniting the dance floor and ensuring everyone sang and danced along! The band brought the ladies back on stage to sing "Girls Got Rhythm!"
Guests also enjoyed food from Mission BBQ, drinks, and bid on various items at our live and silent auctions thanks to help from Blacktie Benefit Auction.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mike and Ellen DiMayo for their outstanding leadership, planning, and organization of the event. Their unwavering dedication to the courageous children in our programs is truly commendable. This year's Rock 'N' Roll Bash raised over $300,000, bringing the total funds raised over the past 20 years to well-over $2 million. These funds will have an immediate impact on our children and families, providing them with holiday and winter activities, including ice skating, holiday light displays, at-home movie and pizza night kits for those unable to leave their homes due to illness, and much more.
Many thanks to Mike McCabe, Gil and Marianne Kuta, and Bob Weltchek for sponsoring and Paul Shifrin for attending. Your continuous support has made a significant difference in the lives of the children we serve.
