Declan enjoyed a much-needed on-the-field VIP experience before the Baltimore Orioles faced the Detroit Tigers Saturday, April 28. The experience was courtesy of UMPS CARE Charities and the Casey Cares Foundation.
Declan, of Perry Hall, is battling craniopharyngioma and is being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He loves spending time with his family while cheering on the Orioles.
Over the past year, The Casey Cares Foundation, which provides uplifting and ongoing programs for families with critically ill children, has sent Declan and his family to several events including Disney on Ice and Orioles Fan Fest.
Casey Cares partnered with UMPS CARE, the official non-profit of the Major League Baseball Umpires, to send several families with critically ill children to baseball games around the country. The organization also hosted Casey Cares families in Philly and Pittsburgh Saturday.
“At Casey Cares, we create little moments and lasting memories for our families from the moment a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, throughout their medical treatment and even beyond,” said Casey Baynes, Founder and Executive Director of Casey Cares. “Declan and his family are going to remember this experience for a long time, and the best part is for a few hours, the last thing that will be on their minds are doctors’ visits and hospital stays.”
