Ready, set, hike! Casey Cares families enjoyed a sunny afternoon watching the Baltimore Ravens football team during their training camp in Ownings Mills and afterwards, got the chance to meet with a few players.
The parents of two Casey Cares kids, Brandon and Dylan, share their memories!
Brandon’s mother Linda says that their family was excited to attend the camp as “Brandon [has] loved the Ravens ever since he was a little kid.” Brandon met with Lamar Jackson and Justin Tucker, his two favorite players.
Linda remarks that the most memorable part of the day was “seeing my kids faces when the players came over and gave them high-fives and signed their football!”
Currently, Brandon is in his second year with Casey Cares and has already participated in over twenty programs! He is a Rhabdomyosarcoma patient, which is a rare form of cancer that forms in skeletal muscle tissue, who is being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dylan enjoyed being at the training camp because "he loves the Ravens," his mother Stacy says, “he loves watching Ravens games with his father” and, while in recovery from a bone marrow transplant in 2019, he took a fun “photo with the Cincinnati Bengals mascot wearing a Ravens shirt.”
Having brought Dylan and his brother, Stacy notes that the “whole experience and atmosphere was amazing with Dylan being super into watching the practice.”
She states that after the practice, Dylan was “waiting for players autographs and got his eyes on Justin Tucker, his favorite player. Then, there was a hand that stuck out and it was Lamar Jackson. He shook Dylan’s hand and Dylan was thrilled!”
The acute lymphocytic leukemia patient was able to get Justin Tucker’s autograph on his roster card!
We are so glad that together, Casey Cares and the Baltimore Ravens were able to make this day such a special one for families.
