Serving Up Support: Maryland Pickleball Tournament Raises $30,000 for Critically Ill Children
The energy was high and the competition friendly at our Maryland Pickleball Tournament this past Friday, where 75 people gathered together for a cause far greater than the game. Thanks to our amazing supporters, we raised $30,000—enough to provide 750 movie and pizza nights, 750 grocery gift cards, or 2,000 pairs of pajamas to families with critically ill children in our programs.
Held at The Putaway, the tournament was made possible by our dedicated event chairs—Barry Herman, Ben Salsbury, and Lance Scott—whose leadership and commitment brought the event to life. A special thanks to Tim at The Putaway for not only providing a top-tier facility but also going above and beyond to support every detail of the day.
Players were treated to delicious food from The Social and Main & Market, who generously fed our teams and volunteers throughout the event.
The highlight of the day was seeing the joy on the faces of two Casey Cares families in attendance. We were honored to host Jathan Ford, a 9-year-old boy battling acute lymphocytic leukemia and type 1 diabetes, and Ruben Collins, a 6-year-old boy with a genetic disorder and epilepsy. Their presence reminded everyone of why we rally—on and off the court—for the children who face life-threatening illnesses with unimaginable strength.
We are deeply grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, CareFirst, for their continued support and partnership. Thank you as well to all of our generous sponsors for making this day a success:
