More Than 800 Participants Help Make the Casey Cares 5K a Success
This past Saturday, more than 800 runners, walkers, volunteers and supporters came together at the Maryland Zoo for the 17th Annual Casey Cares 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk!
The event raised more than $50,000 to support Casey Cares programs for critically ill children and their families, with final fundraising totals still being calculated. Casey Cares is incredibly grateful to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered and helped make this year’s event such a success.
Every registration, donation and step taken helps Casey Cares provide uplifting activities and meaningful experiences for families with critically ill children, creating little moments and lasting memories throughout the year.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Brayden’s family, who courageously joined us to speak following his recent passing. They shared how meaningful it is for families to have a support system like Casey Cares during an incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful to Brayden’s family for sharing their story, honoring his memory and reminding everyone in attendance why the Casey Cares community is so special.
This year’s Top Fundraiser was Stephanie Edmonston.
Team Hammy was named the Top Fundraising Team. Led by team captain Gina Truesdale, the team was created by a past Casey Cares family in honor of Hammy’s Heart.
Miles for a Miracle was recognized as the Largest Team, bringing together 28 participants. The team was created by Casey Cares mom Sarah Ulloa.
Congratulations also go to this year’s top race finishers.
