Lynda Newsome-Buck
Lynda’s running journey started with a simple goal: to become more fit. What began as walking gradually turned into jogging, and before she knew it, she was running — and proud to call herself a runner. “I now call myself a runner :)” she shared.
For Lynda, running is about more than physical fitness. It’s about overcoming challenges, staying healthy, and enjoying moments of mental peace. “I love listening to music and not having to think — it clears my mind,” she said. With music in her ears and hydration in hand, she finds strength and clarity in every stride.
Her advice to others just starting out is full of wisdom and encouragement:
“Do it at your pace. Start slow and add a little at a time. Most importantly, listen to your body — don’t push yourself into injury.”
Lynda and her family were introduced to Casey Cares during a deeply personal time. “Our family was the recipient of the fabulous services of Casey Cares during our son’s medical journey,” she said. “I don’t think we could have gotten him through everything without them.”
Now, participating in the Casey Cares 5K has become a tradition — and a way to give back. “We’ve been participating since the beginning, and now we fundraise for this race as our way to say thank you.”
