Richard Majord
For Richard, running started as a way to support his mental health — and quickly became something much deeper. With every step, he discovered not only a path toward wellness, but also a new sense of community and connection.
“What I enjoy most is the connection — with other runners and with nature,” he shared. That sense of grounding and camaraderie fuels his passion for the sport.
His one must-have on every run? His Garmin. “I feel so incomplete without it,” he said. It keeps him focused, motivated, and on track with every mile.
When offering advice to those just beginning their running or walking journey, Richard keeps it simple:
“Keep moving. Slow and steady is just as good as swift.”
Richard learned about the Casey Cares Foundation through a friend who organized a run in honor of her daughter. Inspired by her story — and driven by his own love for running, kids, and giving back — he joined the Casey Cares 5K as a way to help uplift families facing critical illness.
“I love running, kids, and helping any community!!” he said — and the Casey Cares 5K brings all three together in one meaningful event.
