Mandy Burton
For Mandy, walking isn’t just exercise — it’s a way to honor her daughter Evellynn, who was diagnosed with Pre B-Cell ALL at just six years old. What began as walking with Evellynn became walking for her — every step filled with purpose, strength, and hope.
“The best part about walking is that I feel like I’m part of a change,” Mandy shared. “A child will get to smile because of this contribution.”
She never walks without a picture of Evellynn, a daily reminder of just how far they’ve come. Now five years cancer-free, Evellynn is a shining example of resilience — and Mandy continues to walk in her honor, spreading joy and support to other families still fighting.
Mandy’s advice to anyone just starting their walking or running journey is simple and sincere:
“Start small. You don’t have to overdo it.”
Mandy first learned about Casey Cares through Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology. Since then, the foundation has become a meaningful part of her family’s life.
“I participate in as many walks as possible,” she said. “Casey Cares has done so much for my daughter — and this is my way of giving back.”
