Standing with Children and Families Facing Childhood Cancer
This week, we recognized World Cancer Day, a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the strength of children and families facing cancer. While it’s not a day of celebration, it is a day of awareness, remembrance, and deep gratitude for the courage shown by so many.
Childhood cancer impacts far more than a diagnosis. It touches every part of a child’s life and reshapes an entire family’s world. Long hospital stays, painful treatments, missed milestones, and emotional exhaustion become part of daily life. Parents are asked to be caregivers, advocates, and sources of constant strength, even while carrying their own fear and uncertainty.
On World Cancer Day, we were especially moved to receive this heartfelt message from the mother of Victoria, a brave child in our programs who is battling neuroblastoma:
“Today, on World Cancer Day, I want to say a very special thank you to Casey Cares. Your foundation made what was the hardest time of my little girl’s life so much more bearable. The love, help, and support you provided throughout her treatment meant more to us than words can ever express.
I am forever grateful from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done—and continue to do—for all the little angels bravely battling cancer.
Tons of hugs from Victoria and Family.”
Messages like this remind us why our mission matters.
At Casey Cares, we exist to bring moments of joy, comfort, and connection to children facing critical illness and to their families who walk every step beside them. While we cannot take away the diagnosis, we can help lighten the emotional load by creating experiences that offer hope, normalcy, and smiles during an incredibly difficult journey.
This World Cancer Day, we honor Victoria, her family, and all children bravely fighting cancer. We stand with their parents, siblings, and loved ones. And we remain committed to supporting families through compassion, community, and care, today and every day.
